11^th Annual Jamba Banana Man Chase Sets Goal of 2,000 Participants

 

WHAT:  11^th Annual Jamba Banana Man Chase – 5K Race and Keiki 500 Meter Dash

 

WHEN:  Saturday, May 5, 2012, Start Time:  7 am sharp, rain or shine

 

WHERE:  Ala Moana Beach Park – Magic Island

 

WHY:  Jamba set a goal of over 1,500 runners for the 5K, 500 kids for the 500 Meter Dash (a little over a ¼ mile) and raising money for Hawaii Speed and Quickness, a skills training program designed to teach aspiring athletes to become faster and excel in all types of sports.

 

BACKGROUND: The Jamba Banana Man Chase is also known as Hawaii’s Wackiest Race because runners chase life size bananas around the 5K course!

 

PRIZES: The first three male and first three female runners to pass the Jamba bananas and cross the finish line receive Jamba for a Year (26 Free 16 oz. smoothie coupons). In addition, the 2^nd place finishers in each division receive a Week of Jamba (7 Free 16 oz. smoothie coupons) and 3^rd place finishers receive Jamba for Two (2 Free 16 oz. smoothie coupons).   Male and female division are: 12 & under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.

 

ENTRY FEE:  includes event t-shirt and free 16 oz. Jamba smoothie coupon

-  Regular Registration - $25 until April 20^th – online or via mail

-  Late Registration – $30 online only from April 20^th – April 27^th.  NOTE:  T-shirts not guaranteed after 4/20/12.

-- RACE DAY registration - $30  from 5:30-6 am ONLY at Ala Moana Beach Park

- Keiki 500 Meter Dash (Kids 13 years and under) - $15 ** includes t-shirt and medal

            -- 5K and Keiki Race have the same registration deadlines

 

SIGN UP online or mail in:  Log on to www.active.com   or mail a hard copy entry form and sign up by April 20^th for $25 entry fee.  $30 entry fee applies to online and mailed entries received by April 27^th. Entry forms are also available at Jamba Hawaii locations (excluding UH Manoa) and must be POSTMARKED by April 27^th.  Entries will be accepted on site on RACE DAY site between 5:30 and 6:00 am.

 

PACKET PICK UP – May 3^rd and 4^th, 3:30 – 6:30 pm at Jamba Juice Ward Gateway (corner of Ward and Auahi Street).

 

POST EVENT FUN: Following both runs there will be family fun activities including FREE Jamba smoothies, entertainment, Speed and Quickness demonstration drills, face painting, bounce house, massage therapists and exciting prize giveaways.
