Free Smoothie Success! Over $35,000 Raised For JDRF
FREE SMOOTHIE CELEBRATION RAISES $35,192 FOR JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION
April 20, 2004 – It was a four-day whirlwind of activity last week at all 20 Jamba Juice stores across the state with its fourth annual Free Smoothie Celebration. Free smoothies were given away on April 13th on Oahu (13 stores), April 14th on Kauai (Kukui Grove), April 15th on the Big Island (Hilo & Kona) and April 16th on Maui (4 stores). A total of 16,675 24-ounce smoothies were given out between 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. each day of the event while donations were collected for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Jamba Juice raised a total of $35,192.05 for JDRF, exceeding the original goal of $25,000.
“We are extremely pleased with this year’s effort, which benefits the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation,” said Sherri Rigg, Jamba Juice Marketing Director. “The fact that our original goal of $25,000 was exceeded by more than $10,100 just goes to show how good-hearted the community is for backing such a worthy cause,” she said.
In the true Jamba spirit, support for the cause was company-wide. Jamba employees that donated $20 to JDRF were given a Free Smoothie Celebration 2004 commemorative visor by the company. The employees’ collective donation was $2,745.
Also this year, Jamba Juice received support from local food service distributor, Y. Hata & Co., which donated $3,600 to JDRF.
